Transit Claims Handler (Insurance Broker) .... Because lost, stolen or damaged parcels don't sort themselves out.
The majority of claims jobs aren’t super complicated. This one is something a little different, it is busy and will keep you on your toes. The kind of busy where you’ll clear your inbox, make a cappuccino and by the time you sit back down at your desk, 5 more claims have landed.
That’s because the client you’ll be looking after (working on behalf of a large insurance broker) is a good sized UK Freight Forwarder who send out plenty of parcels that don’t quite make it to where they’re ultimately meant to go
This is where you become a huge asset.
Some don’t arrive at all. Some arrive looking like they've just come off a rollercoaster without a seatbelt on. And occasionally you’ll get something half-damaged, which is where your negotiation and technical skills actually get used.
What you’ll actually be doing
* Handling around 60–70 transit claims a month (likely more later)
* Reviewing documents, photos and the usual evidence pack to decide whether you pay or push back.
* Settling straightforward non-delivery claims quickly, most come complete with all the information.
* Managing the more fiddly partially-damaged goods claims where you may need to negotiate an offer.
* Keeping the process tidy, accurate and moving.
What you’ll need
* This is a great opportunity for a Claims Handler who likes being busy, hands on, enjoys a process and has a natural interest in logistics and freight! You will have had some experience dealing with home, motor or personal lines/commercial claims. Even better if you've had some exposure to goods in transit claims, have the ability to monitor progress of claims and have strong IT skills
* This opportunity provides flexible home working (3 in the office in Stockport, 2 from home) and role has scope to become a much larger one in future.
