Job Description:
In this role, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the Quality Assurance team to ensure that quality requirements are met according to internal quality, regulatory, and customer expectations. You will report to the Director of Food Safety and Quality, providing decision-making support for Quality Assurance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the activities of the QA Coordinator and QA Supervisor to ensure products meet company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
2. Ensure compliance with Quality and Regulatory standards including CFIA, SQF, HACCP, FSMA, and other related quality management systems.
3. Act as a company representative during government and facility audits.
4. Liaise with customers, participate in audits, and provide timely responses to information requests.
5. Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the SQF system.
6. Provide leadership and support to factory operations to produce quality products.
7. Manage non-conforming stock segregation and respond to customer concerns.
8. Work with R&D & QC staff to define raw material quality programs.
9. Manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
* A degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in the food industry.
* Familiarity with regulatory and customer audit standards.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, SAP).
* Experience as an SQF Practitioner.
* Understanding of food plant sanitation and pest control programs.
* Ability to assess risk and implement mitigation strategies.
