We are looking for a proactive, energetic, and experienced candidate to join our Service Delivery team in a key role at our West Byfleet spoke in Woking. This Operations Manager role requires a background in distribution, fleet, or logistics management on a large scale. Proven experience in people management, including coaching and team development, is essential. Experience in fleet management and handling budgets and target setting on a large scale are also required.
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager for Service Delivery, the Customer Services Operations Manager is responsible for the successful operation of the spoke. The Operations Manager will ensure that employees follow safety practices, work in a safe environment, and that customers receive outstanding, consistent, and industry-leading service.
You will demonstrate visible leadership, drive employee engagement, efficiency, and safety, and promote continuous improvement across all areas of the spoke. You will set personal objectives and oversee the performance of Team Managers to meet targets and deadlines, ensuring high standards in process compliance and risk management. Responsibilities also include managing resource levels and preparing budgets and plans based on expected volumes.
This role primarily involves working Monday to Friday, with full flexibility required. It will include being on call for weekends and adjusting working hours as needed to meet business requirements.
About you
* Excellent communication skills and good numerical ability, both verbal and written.
* Previous management experience is essential; experience in a 24/7 logistics environment is preferred.
* You thrive in KPI-driven environments and are quick to react to changing situations.
* Experience leading large, diverse teams in a fast-paced environment, with good knowledge of ER policies and people management.
* Proficiency with computerized management systems, strategic analysis, and Microsoft Office suite. Knowledge of health & safety practices is essential.
* Purposeful, motivated, resilient, reliable, and flexible, leading by example.
* Strong organizational skills with experience managing budgets and targets.
