We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated Healthcare Assistant to join our experienced nursing team on a part-time basis. This role is ideal for someone passionate about patient care and proactive in improving quality within a primary care setting. The post holder can expect to work in an encouraging and supportive practice environment. They will deliver and assist the clinical team in providing treatment, preventative care, health promotion, and patient education. This role is highly varied; it requires quick thinking, the ability to put patients at ease, work within set appointment times, and follow practice procedures and policies.
Part-time position available: 16 - 20 hours per week, Wednesday to Friday.
Main duties of the job
* Wound care, ECGs, venipuncture
* Long-term condition reviews including height, weight, BP, pulse
* Assisting with women's health appointments
* Chaperoning
* Following data security, safeguarding, H&S, and IPC procedures and policies

Front Street Surgery has been open for over 40 years, serving approximately 8,500 patients. Our main branch is in Acomb with a satellite branch in Copmanthorpe. The post holder will be expected to work from both sites. We are a friendly and supportive team led by four experienced partners. Our multi-skilled clinical team includes 10 GPs, practice nurses, HCAs, phlebotomist, and we also have a PCN physiotherapist and mental health practitioner. As a training practice with HYMS, we welcome a diverse and ever-changing group of students and registrars.

Job responsibilities
The Healthcare Assistant will support the practice nursing and administrative teams in delivering clinical and administrative services as part of the multidisciplinary team, providing care within their scope of practice to the patient population.
Core responsibilities include supporting health promotion programs, carrying out baseline observations, supporting chronic disease management, and assisting with clinical tasks such as wound care, ECGs, venipuncture, and vaccinations, when trained.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* GCSE Grade A-C in English or Maths (or equivalent)
* NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care
* Qualified in phlebotomy
* NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care
Experience
* Experience working in a healthcare setting
* Ability to record accurate clinical notes
* Good knowledge of clinical governance
* Understanding of PGDs and related policies
* Experience in Primary Care
* Knowledge of SystmOne
