Overview
The Ward Hostess/Host role supports ward clinical staff by providing efficient and professional catering service at Darlington Memorial Hospital. The role follows the duties laid out by the Food Services Manager for day-to-day food service operations to patients, ensuring high quality, food safety, and cost-effectiveness. It includes reheating nutritious meals to a high standard and assisting with electronic patient meal ordering. The position operates under the Food Services Manager and is part of SCL, a wholly owned subsidiary of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT).
Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of meal ordering, beverages and meals to patients at ward level to assist ward clinical staff.
* Follow the duties laid out by the Food Services Manager in the day-to-day operational management of food service to patients.
* Reheat nutritious and appetizing meals for all patients to the highest possible standards of nutrition, temperature, quality, presentation, hygiene and safety.
* Be involved in electronic patient meal ordering and maintain high standards of food service, reheating, and quality control throughout.
* Ensure temperature monitoring and recording of all reheating in accordance with Catering Department Policies and HACCP.
* Assist with receipt, quality assurance and stock control of goods received from the Central Production Unit (CPU).
* Ensure correct storage and security of goods, adhering to stock rotation practices in line with kitchen HACCP.
* Assist in Hygiene Audits and Cleaning Schedule inspections for your area, liaising with Food Service Supervisors to ensure remedial work is completed.
* Assist in the general cleaning of crockery and kitchen utensils using the dishwasher and by hand when required.

SCL is a wholly owned subsidiary of County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust (CDDFT) set up to deliver a range of non-clinical services. The company is a separate legal entity from CDDFT.
