We currently have a vacancy for a GIS Analyst to join our Research and Intelligence Service. Part of a multidisciplinary Research and Intelligence function, the Transport Analytics and Spatial Intelligence Team brings together specialists in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), data analytics, and transport research to generate and disseminate insight. This work provides the fuel for effective evidence-based decision making across all levels of the organisation.
As GIS Analyst, you will utilise a wide range of datasets and technical and analytical tools to generate insights to inform policy development, secure funding, prioritize investment areas, and monitor transport interventions to improve the quality of life in West Yorkshire.
Following the publication of the Phase Two Grenfell Tower Inquiry report in September 2024, the West Yorkshire Combined Authority has started to identify how to increase the pace of building remediation in our region. The Combined Authority is playing a convening role, bringing together key stakeholders responsible for building safety concerning dangerous cladding. Our new GIS Analyst role will support the development and implementation of a Local Remediation Acceleration Plan for West Yorkshire.

The Role
Reporting to the Spatial Intelligence Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:
* Delivering spatial analysis, mapping, and data visualization to support the West Yorkshire Remediation Acceleration Plan and building safety initiatives.
* Developing and maintaining GIS data assets and web-based mapping tools using the Esri Enterprise suite for interactive, self-service access.
* Applying advanced analytics and automated ETL processes to manage large datasets, presenting insights and promoting best GIS practices.

About You
* Degree in GIS, Geography, or a related discipline with strong spatial analysis skills, or equivalent experience.
* Experience in developing interactive GIS content such as web maps, story maps, or dashboards.
* Ability to communicate complex insights clearly and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
* Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
* Understanding of data automation and experience with spatial ETL tools like FME (desirable).
* Knowledge of Ordnance Survey mapping products and datasets (desirable).
