Project Engineer – SCADA (Protection + Control)
Salary £44,000 - £55,000 per annum plus strong benefits package and excellent career progression opportunities/support.
Location: Any office base across the Distribution licence area in Scotland — including Telferton (Edinburgh), Glenrothes, Bonnybridge, Cambuslang, Kilmarnock, Dumfries and Galashiels. This role will be predominantly site‑based across the SPD network.
Contract: Permanent / Full Time (37 hours per week)

We’re looking for a Project Engineer – SCADA to join our SCADA & Technical Support team within SP Energy Networks’ Distribution business. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in maintaining, developing and enhancing the critical SCADA systems that allow us to monitor and operate the SPD network safely and reliably.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Develop, maintain and support SCADA assets across the SPD network.
* Deliver change‑process activities and liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Provide technical input into SCADA specifications, particularly for RTU replacement and development.
* Support regulatory and business‑driven objectives under RIIO.
* Respond to SCADA faults and defects, working closely with the OCC to optimise operational performance.
* Configure, test and commission SCADA systems, including on‑site activities.
What You’ll Bring
* HNC/D in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience within the construction and operations of electricity networks
* Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder‑management skills
* Experience working with SCADA systems on electrical power networks
* Good understanding of industry‑standard SCADA protocols and protocol‑emulation tools
* Transmission or Distribution network operational experience
* Ability to analyse complex engineering issues and deliver effective technical solutions
* Knowledge of network data, business systems and network‑management tools
* Essential: A valid UK driving licence is required, as this role involves frequent travel between sites
