Place of Work/Group Company: Nijhuis Industries UK & Ireland, Cornwall & Wiltshire
Summary:
The Wastewater Treatment Operative will be responsible for operating and monitoring the assets associated with the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) on multiple sites in Cornwall and Wiltshire, UK, primarily based in Cornwall. Travel to other sites across the UK may be required. All travel and overnight expenses will be paid by the company according to the expenses policy.
The WWTPs operate 7 days a week:
- Rock site: 8 hours/day Mon-Fri, 4 hours/day Sat-Sun.
- St Austell and Salisbury sites: 4 hours/day, 7 days/week.
- Wadebridge site: 8 hours/day, 7 days/week.
The main working hours are 8am-4pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend coverage, overtime, and rest days as needed. Bank Holidays work is required with days off given back.
The WWTPs process mixed effluent requiring high-standard treatment, necessitating regular monitoring for deviations from operational plans.
The Operative will implement control activities, operational changes, prepare assets for basic maintenance, and maintain performance data in a computer system. Minor preventative maintenance activities, such as cleaning and calibration, are also expected. Housekeeping duties and asset maintenance are part of the role.
The role ensures assets operate optimally, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and uninterrupted customer production.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Work within client and NSI HSE systems.
* Take ownership of HSE issues at all levels.
* Raise issues affecting client and NSI promptly.
* Build professional relationships with clients and subcontractors.
* Suggest workplace improvements.
* Identify faults, evaluate solutions, and perform basic repairs.
* Document system information and plant logs.
* Conduct daily water analysis and report deviations.
* Monitor system performance and recommend operational adjustments.
* Maintain good housekeeping practices.
* Work proactively and independently.
* Develop teamwork with clients and NSI staff.
* Participate in training and identify further training needs.
Essential Skills/Qualifications:
* Operational experience with wastewater treatment plants.
* Maintenance knowledge of wastewater treatment equipment.
* Ability to perform repairs and maintenance tasks.
* Knowledge of electro-mechanical plant operation.
* Understanding of Water and Wastewater treatment processes.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications:
* Ability to interpret technical information for operational improvements.
* Experience working with subcontractors.
* Electrical qualifications and experience with pumps and panels.
* Ability to work within quality systems.
* Environmental Health and Safety training.
* HSE qualifications.
Benefits:
* Salary between £24,000 and £30,000, based on experience.
* Overtime at 1.5x.
