Multi-Skilled Engineer
Multi-Skilled Day Engineer – Feed Manufacturing – 4on 4off – Days Only- Portbury - Competitive + Excellent Benefits
Hours: 42 hours per week – 4 on / 4 off days-only shift pattern (including weekends)
The Job:
Working closely with the Engineering Team Manager, this role will support both reactive and preventative maintenance activity, while ensuring compliance across Mechanical, Electrical, Environmental and Health & Safety requirements.
- Diagnose and repair faults on plant equipment including motors, drives, conveyors and elevators
- Support daily and weekly boiler maintenance tasks
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations (Electricity at Work, LOLER, ISO, COSHH etc.)
- Safely isolate machinery for maintenance, supporting internal teams and external contractors
- Maintain accurate logs and records of work completed using the Asset Management System
- Issue Permits to Work and Isolation Certificates as needed
- Follow all relevant Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures
- Engage with the production team and assist with site projects where required
- Contribute to continuous improvement culture through proactive repairs and maintenance

A leading business in the animal feed and nutrition manufacturing sector is seeking a Day Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent basis. Working on a 4on / 4off shift pattern (days only), this is a great opportunity to take ownership of plant maintenance, fault finding, and contribute to engineering improvement across a modern, high-output production facility.
The Candidate:
- Electrical bias with proven experience in a multi-skilled engineering role
- Experience working within manufacturing or industrial environments (ideally feed, food or similar)
- Strong knowledge of motors, drives, conveyors, and bucket elevators
- Boiler maintenance knowledge (BOAS minimum) and water treatment experience
- Confident fault finding and troubleshooting skills
- PLC knowledge – desirable
- Flexible to cover night shifts when required (on occasion)
- Good team player with strong communication and a hands-on attitude
- First Aid trained (desirable)
- Good understanding of COSHH and Health & Safety best practice
