Key Responsibilities Plan, implement, and evaluate a range of age-appropriate activities that promote children's learning and development across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures Observe, assess, and document children's progress, maintaining accurate records and sharing information with parents and colleagues Create a welcoming, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that encourages exploration and independence Build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, fostering a sense of community within the nursery Support children's personal, social, and emotional development, promoting positive behavior and self-esteem Assist with daily routines, including mealtimes, nappy changing, and sleep times, ensuring children's individual needs are met Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge Contribute to the planning and organization of special events, outings, and celebrations Maintain a clean, tidy, and organized learning environment, ensuring resources are well-maintained and accessible to children Adhere to all nursery policies, procedures, and quality standards Support children with special educational needs and disabilities, working closely with the SENCO and external professionals when required Qualifications and Requirements Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education or equivalent (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma, NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development) Current DBS check or willingness to undergo a new check Thorough understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and its practical application Excellent knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and health and safety regulations Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when working independently Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with young children Physical fitness to engage in active play and lift children when necessary First aid qualification (desirable but not essential, as training can be provided) Experience While we welcome applications from newly qualified practitioners, candidates with previous experience working in a nursery or early years setting will be highly valued.
