Project Manager – Large Engineering Programmes (Aerospace)
Location: Filton (60% Onsite)

£40.00/hr Umbrella | £29.89/hr PAYE
A leading engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join their team, supporting a major aerospace programme focused on complex, ageing aircraft fleets and high-profile customer operations. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of end-to-end project delivery within a dynamic, cross-functional environment.
This role will suit a proactive, organised project professional with strong stakeholder management skills and experience leading engineering-focused work packages from initiation through to closure.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a portfolio of engineering projects to agreed time, cost and quality targets.
* Lead the full project lifecycle, including launch meetings, milestone tracking, CPD reviews and monthly progress reviews.
* Coordinate closely with Engineering, Programme, Design Office, Airworthiness, Procurement and Customer Support teams across multiple sites.
* Oversee planning activities for the Serial Design Office and directly manage external suppliers, partners and subcontractors, including PO raising and tender processes.
* Maintain budgets, forecasts and bookings to support annual operational plan objectives.
* Regularly report on project status, risks, dependencies and escalations to internal leadership.
* Facilitate cross-functional meetings, ensuring strong communication and alignment across the programme.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven project or programme management experience within engineering-led environments (aerospace preferred).
* Hands-on experience managing large, complex engineering projects with multiple stakeholders.
* Strong working knowledge of project management tools; experience with Zoho, SAP (including raising PO’s) and Google Workspace is highly desirable.
* Confident managing budgets, forecasts and supplier performance.
* Excellent communication, reporting, coordination and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work autonomously, drive progress and influence cross-functional teams.
* Any experience with fuel systems, wing structures or aircraft-related engineering is an advantage but not essential.
* Project management qualifications or equivalent experience welcomed.
Additional Information
* Security Clearance: BPSS+ required (processed by the client).
* Working Pattern: 35 hours per week, across 4.5 days (flexible between 7am–7pm).
* Duration: Contract until 31/12/2026, with strong likelihood of extension.
* Travel: Occasional.
* Interviews: 1-stage virtual, possible onsite follow-up.
