Role Overview
The role is for a Design Engineer based in Bristol, within the Structural and Geotechnical Engineering team, supporting infrastructure projects for clients such as the Environment Agency, Severn Trent, and the Mining Remediation Authority.
Location & Hours
Location: Bristol. Hours: 40 hours per week, with flexibility available.
Responsibilities
* Review and agree the technical requirements of the client remit, ensuring full understanding and appropriate challenge.
* Contribute to fee proposal development.
* Organise and lead day‑to‑day workload of engineers and technical staff within the Design team, ensuring technical compliance.
* Maintain compliance with legal requirements, company policies and procedures, including CDM Regulations, Kier SHE Management System (SHEMS) and the Design Quality Management System (QMS).
* Support financial and commercial management of projects: progress monitoring, change control, delivery to agreed programme and budget, value engineering and alternative solutions.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience in design delivery, comfortable using judgment to manage uncertainty and technical risk.
* Postgraduate experience in the design of hydraulic structures or river engineering, or a similar field.
* Working towards Chartered or Incorporated membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., CEng, MICE).
* Driving licence to visit various sites and offices.
