Qualifications and experience: Between 2 to 3 years' experience and a Children's Workforce Diploma or equivalent to the children sector. Essential that candidates have relevant experience and qualifications to be considered for an interview.

The Senior Support Worker provides care, support, and development for young people, and acts as a key link between Area Camden and the local community to promote social inclusion for those with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
Main Purpose of the Role
The Senior Support Worker is accountable for delivering high quality care to children and young people resident within the home. This includes delivering care services, contributing to strategic developments within the home, and day-to-day management matters. They will demonstrate leadership in childcare, supervise and mentor staff, organise work patterns, facilitate care-focused training, and access appropriate services to support childcare practices. The Senior Support Worker reports to the Registered Manager.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high quality care to children and young people in the home and contribute to continuous improvement of childcare standards.
* Provide key working for children, focusing on achieving the best outcomes for each child and young person.
* Lead in childcare practice, organise and support staff, supervise and mentor staff, and facilitate training.
* Ensure availability and coordination of relevant services (health, education, therapy) to meet each child’s needs.
* Work as part of a rolling rota to provide round-the-clock support and care.
* Adhere to Area Camden and Polaris policies and procedures and monitor health and safety compliance.

Childcare compliance
* Ensure effective implementation of the Children Act 1989, Care Standards Act 2000, and Children’s Homes Reg 2015, in consultation with statutory bodies
* Manage child protection matters in line with current legislation and safeguarding best practice
* Maintain high standards of childcare and implement each child’s placement plan
* Co-ordinate access to services (health, education, therapy) to meet needs
Leadership
* Provide leadership and coaching to ensure best outcomes for children and young people
* Support Manager and/or Senior Residential Childcare Workers in delivering best practices
* Implement Area Camden’s underpinning philosophy and ensure care standards are maintained
* Ensure policy and procedural compliance across Area Camden and Polaris
* Support monitoring of the home within regulatory standards and health & safety obligations; participate in a rolling rota for round-the-clock care
Home Management
* Manage the home effectively to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people
* Ensure staff focus on delivering high-quality childcare
* Participate in Quality Assurance, regulatory compliance, and annual inspection processes
* Support Regulation 44 visits and maintain safety, warmth, and a caring home environment
* Assist with budget management and related cost controls
