We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, strong and compassionate ward leader on Huntsman 4, Trauma and Orthopaedic ward at the Northern General Hospital.

This role involves supporting the Matron and working collaboratively as an integral part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) to foster a positive, patient-centred environment.

Main duties of the job
Post holder will provide leadership and management to a multidisciplinary team providing care to patients on Huntsman 4 trauma and Orthopaedic ward at the Northern General Hospital.
Ensure that the highest possible patient focused quality care is delivered, that it meets the expectations of individual patients and reflects the Directorate business objectives.
Plan the development of the team and lead the operational management of staff within a defined team, including appraisals, rosters, recruitment and selection, and the supervision of students.
Support the Matron, Deputy Nurse Director and Nurse Director in providing a quality service to all its users and deliver the broad objectives of the clinical teams.
The post holder’s duties would reflect both Clinical and Managerial commitments.
Deputise for the Matron where needed.
Provide Senior care group cover as bleep holder at the Northern General Hospital site.

This vacancy is advertised on a fixed term contract basis for a period of a maximum of twelve months due to maternity leave of the substantive post holder. The fixed term contract status of the post holder will be reviewed in accordance with the Trust's legal obligations regarding fixed term contracts and statutory maternity provisions.
Please also note any secondment must first be agreed with your current line manager.

1. Registered Nurse (valid with NMC)
2. To have completed the national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.
3. Degree or evidence of actively working towards Degree level of study
4. Certificate in management and Leadership or equivalent
Desirable criteria
5. Master’s level study
6. Post graduate education relevant to the role
Experience
Essential criteria
7. Relevant post registration experience
8. Evidence of management experience
9. Evidence of personal and professional development
10. Ability to work autonomously
