Main Duties
* Plan own day to day tasks and duties
* Undertake routine typing and audio typing of clinical correspondence
* Prioritise results, organise clinical activity and patient admissions
* Liaise with patients, GP's and other Health Boards/Trusts to arrange ongoing treatment and care.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: RSA/OCR Level III or equivalent; Good standard of education; Comprehensive knowledge of medical/surgical terminology.
* Desirable: ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) or similar qualification; Knowledge of University Health Board procedures; Medical Secretary qualification e.g., AMSPAR.
Experience
* Essential: Previous experience in a secretarial role; Experience working in a busy environment; Ability to prioritise and manage own workload; Knowledge of the Welsh PAS (Myrddin) system.
* Desirable: Experience working in a hospital environment; Experience supervising staff.
Aptitude and Abilities
* Essential: Excellent keyboard and audio typing skills; Excellent communication and telephone skills; Ability to deal with patients and relatives sympathetically; Ability to deal with staff at all levels; Confidentiality and diplomacy; Excellent organisational and time‑management skills.
* Desirable: Setting up office systems; Ability to take shorthand; Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 and above.
