Outreach Tutor – Coventry Area
Chalkline Education is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Outreach Tutors to join our team in and around the Coventry area from the start of the new academic year in September.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must hold relevant teaching qualifications, such as QTS, PGCE, PTLLS, CTLLS, DTLLS, Level 3 AET, Level 3 TA or HLTA.
The Role
As an Outreach Tutor, you will provide one-to-one, face-to-face support for pupils across Coventry. You will be responsible for planning and delivering personalised and engaging sessions aimed at addressing gaps in learning, building confidence, and encouraging motivation. Creativity, patience and a strong commitment to helping pupils reach their potential are essential.
At Chalkline, we work closely with you to support and monitor the progress of each pupil.
Hours & Pay
Tutors are paid for each hour delivered, based on the agreed hours for each assignment.
Hours may vary depending on the pupil’s needs and learning plan.
Sessions are typically scheduled during school hours (8.30–16.30), with occasional after-school sessions.
We aim to allocate pupils close to your home to minimise travel. Where travel exceeds 30 minutes, a higher rate of pay will be agreed in advance.
Delivery & Approach
Most pupils require support in Maths and English. Tutors are expected to adapt lessons to the pupil’s individual needs, creating fun and interactive sessions that maintain focus and motivation. Flexibility is key, as activities may need to be adjusted according to progress or circumstances on the day.
Location
Tuition is delivered in person, at locations such as the pupil’s home, their school, or another suitable agreed venue within the Coventry area. All arrangements will be discussed and confirmed before sessions begin.
Pupils
We work with a diverse range of learners, primarily aged 11–16, including children in care, pupils with special educational needs, and those requiring additional support to achieve their full potential. Each child’s circumstances are unique, and our approach is tailored accordingly.
Resources
Tutors are expected to plan each session, drawing on internal resources, printable materials, and widely used learning platforms such as Twinkl and BKSB.
Reporting
Following each session, you will complete a detailed report including SMART targets to track progress and inform future planning. A timesheet and session report must be submitted weekly by Friday.
All key documents, templates and resources are stored on Google Drive, and you will be provided with a Chalkline email address for communication and access to materials.
