About Giffords Circus
"Our costumes are handmade, our animals are trained by us, our sets are painted in the barns on our farm. We burn the midnight oil to conjure new visions for the show. It's all we do. Circus is our job, our life, our love." - Nell Gifford
Giffords Circus is a magical village green circus that tours England from the first days of spring to the first glimpse of winter. Since it was founded in 2000 by Nell and Toti Gifford, it has become known as 'The UK's most glamorous circus' and is loved by audiences across the Cotswolds and beyond. Each year we take a magical show on tour from April to September and this year, for the first time, we're also creating a Winter Show, housed in our barn at Fennells Farm.
We are looking for a hands-on, creative, and highly organised Marketing Manager to join our small but mighty team. Reporting directly to our Founder & CEO, you'll be the driving force behind our marketing activity across both shows, telling our story, growing our audience, and engaging with our loyal community of followers.
The Role
The Marketing Manager will lead on all day-to-day marketing activity for Giffords Circus, including both Giffords Circus summer show and Christmas at Giffords. This role combines creative flair with operational execution - from building a strategic marketing calendar to shooting social content in the ring, managing brand partnerships, and ensuring our loyal audience hears from us at just the right moments and in a consistent brand tone of voice.
You will also work closely with our on-site Social Media Executive, briefing in and guiding content capture during rehearsals, show days, and behind-the-scenes moments to ensure everything is on brand and aligned with the overarching marketing plan.
Key Responsibilities
Marketing Planning & Calendar
* Plan and run a marketing calendar, tapping into key consumer moments and seasonal opportunities.
* Maintain regular contact with our database and followers through engaging content and communications.
* Ensure all marketing activity is strategically aligned to ticket sales goals and brand objectives.
* Track, measure and report on all marketing activity to guide future activity/focus.
Content & Digital
* Work closely with the on-site Social Media Executive to brief in and oversee content capture.
* Visit circus grounds regularly to capture 'in the moment' content or maximise consumer trends.
* Work closely with artistes to create engaging behind-the-scenes and performance content.
* Coordinate with external photographers, agencies and brand partners to create promotional photography for online, press, and marketing use as well as cobrand/partnership content.
* Manage requests from external photographers wanting to photograph the circus, ensuring content is collated and organised.
* Build and run paid social campaigns, optimising for reach, engagement, and conversions.
Press, PR & Influencer Outreach
* Build and maintain strong relationships with local, regional, and national press.
* Write and distribute press releases and media kits.
* Identify and engage with influencers, bloggers, and relevant creators to expand our reach.
Community & Brand Partnerships
* Own and manage all social media channels – planning, posting, replying, and engaging with our online community.
* Develop relationships with local communities, charities, and cultural organisations in tour locations to drive reach and engagement.
* Initiate and manage conversations with relevant brand partners, creating impactful collaborations that drive reach and talkability.
* Work with the Head of Operations & Merchandise on new product ideas, suggesting and liaising with brand partners where appropriate.
Brand & Creative
* Work closely with our Head of Art on printed materials, signage, and merchandise.
* Maintain brand consistency across all channels.
General Marketing
* Monitor and manage marketing budgets.
* Be a visible and active presence at press events, key shows & partner-associated shows.
Skills & Experience Required
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a marketing role, ideally in arts, entertainment, or events.
* Proven track record in community management and content creation.
* Experience building and running paid social campaigns.
* Experience with email marketing platforms and CRM systems.
* Strong copywriting and communication skills.
* Experience in PR and press liaison.
* Experience creating and delivering brand partnerships.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work to tight deadlines.
* Full clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel to the circus grounds as needed.
We'd Love it if You Also Have:
* An eye for photography and/or videography.
* A love of storytelling and performance.
