Job Purpose
To provide the National Park Authority with a comprehensive, professional estate management service and expertise in sustainable land management, rural policy, and rural business development.
This includes providing coordinated oversight of the Authoritys owned (nonAEUR'commercial) estate to ensure appropriate management, statutory compliance, and implementation of agreed management plans aligned to BBNPAs organisational missions and statutory duties.
Main Duties
* Provide advice, guidance and support on sustainable land use and estate management to encourage appropriate and innovative management solutions. Work closely with the wardens team and wider Countryside and Estates team to support organisational capital works projects and ensure estate management requirements arising from ownership responsibilities are clearly specified and integrated into our operational service.
* Help the Authority build positive relationships with the farming community and other landowners within the National Park in order to establish effective partnerships for the management of its estate.
* Coordinate input into the authoritys strategic estates management process, working with rural surveyors and specialists to ensure proper account is taken of matters relating to sustainable land management and rural development. Responsibilities include the development of capital asset management plans, supporting events and activities on our land and input into the development of new Natural Capital programmes of work. Ensure accurate and up to date estate ownership, boundary, tenure and asset records are maintained in collaboration with technical teams.
* Promote and raise awareness of the Authoritys sustainable land management work externally, build partnerships and good relations with local communities, external organisations, agencies and key decision makers and act as advocate to enable the Authority to develop its reputation and influence.
* To provide advice on agricultural, forestry, woodland and arboriculture matters to Officers and Members and advise Development Control staff to support the delivery of our missions and meet legal duties.
* Provide advice and guidance to Authority staff on land, estate and building management issues and develop income generation opportunities. Support the development and and maintenance of site asset records and management plans (digital and paper). Provide day to day estate management input into landowner permissions, licences, access agreements and boundary matters relating to the Authoritys estate.
* To respond to statutory and informal consultations as required.
* Co:write Management Plans for land owned, leased or managed by the National Park Authority. Project manage the implementation, supervision and monitoring of such management using contractors and/or National Park Authority staff. Responsibilities include agreed health and safety assessment and management, development of income streams and supporting with access improvements, sustainable tourism/visitor management and community engagement.
* Ensure estate management activity aligns with the Authoritys strategic priorities, including the National Park Management Plan and nature recovery objectives.
* Work closely with the wider Estates and Countryside service to ensure estate owner requirements are clearly specified and integrated into operational delivery.
* Any other duty, appropriate to the grade and nature of the post as required by the Head of Estates and Countryside Management or members of the Executive Team.
