Senior Procurement Category Manager (Corporate & Facilities Management Services) at Breedon Group plc

Location: Breedon Head Office, Pinnacle House, Breedon on the Hill, Derbyshire

This is a hybrid role where postholders are expected to be based from our business premises a minimum of 3 days a week. Our preferred location is Derbyshire, but consideration will be given to being based from an alternative Breedon office. Applicants must be within an acceptable commutable distance of this location and be able to travel to alternative locations.


Responsibilities

* Responsible for developing and implementing a category strategy that aligns purchasing activity with business objectives to create a sustainable supply chain that delivers value for money. This includes systems and process development to simplify purchasing from supply chain partners, including payment processes, and ensuring compliance with the procurement policy.
* Set and deliver the annual procurement plan. Manage the complete procurement cycle: spend analysis, tender creation, contract award, implementation, and supplier relationship management. In many cases, act as project manager and lead cross-functional teams to select goods and services across multiple business units.
* Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to provide analysis and supply chain solutions in your category area. Travel to deliver project plans as required across over 300 locations in the UK and Ireland; excellent communication and influencing skills are required to drive solutions across locations.


Key Role Accountabilities

* Create and implement a strategic roadmap for your category spend area, including strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve business performance.
* Develop and deliver regular communications to internal stakeholders about purchasing strategy, project plan activity and achievements to ensure full engagement.
* Ensure purchasing strategies and processes meet business objectives and operational needs using a total cost of ownership approach to enable competitive performance.
* Own end-to-end procurement processes: spend analysis, benefits plan creation, project management, tender activity, supplier onboarding, contract drafting, project implementation and supplier relationship management.
* Evaluate business challenges, mitigate risks, and develop opportunities. Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver sourcing initiatives.
* Incorporate sustainability, ethical sourcing and innovation in your supplier portfolio.
* Contribute to overall business strategy and annual budget process and to the development of creative procurement processes.
* Forecast price and market trends to identify risk and support budget forecasting.
* Ensure professional and consistent supplier management across the supply base by implementing a supplier evaluation process to measure performance and compliance.


Strengths You\'ll Bring

* Proven experience setting up contracts for statutory services (e.g., lifting, legionella, noise, waste management, fire).
* Experience in procurement category management, preferably indirect procurement, facilities management or operational/engineering services.
* Ability to demonstrate a strategic long-term roadmap with project planning and successful implementation.
* Highly effective negotiator and networker with strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills across >300 sites.
* Strong business awareness and knowledge of key principles underpinning the business.
* Experience leading through change and implementing effective communication strategies.
* Ability to perform under pressure, make controlled decisions, and analyze data to identify problems and opportunities.
* Strong initiative, personal drive and the ability to originate action or ideas.
