The Role
Working within the Highway Contract Management Team, you will contribute to the delivery and management of the Hampshire Highways Service Contract (HHSC), which delivers over £80m of highway maintenance and improvement projects each year. The role is based at our Winchester office, with the opportunity to work from home subject to business requirements and in-office collaborative days (Tuesdays and Wednesdays).
What you’ll do
You will provide support to the wider teams managing the maintenance, improvement, regulatory, and asset management functions of the highway network to ensure an efficient and effective service for highway users. Your tasks will involve:
* Understanding complex documents and interpreting data
* Analyzing data and prioritizing competing workloads
* Adopting a systematic approach to work
* Using a wide range of IT systems comfortably
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who is:
* Organised and analytical, comfortable working with detailed documents like contracts and computer systems to handle and analyse data
* Familiar with project management fundamentals, able to juggle priorities and meet deadlines, and communicate clearly with a range of people
* Collaborative, building strong working relationships, and willing to challenge things in a positive way to improve performance
It would be a bonus if you have experience in:
* Highway maintenance
* NEC contracts
* Health and safety requirements
* Working in a local authority or public sector setting
* Mapping systems such as ArcGIS
* Using AI tools to improve work or decision‑making
