Purpose of the Role
Join the Production Planning team as the Technical Manager- Pressed Parts where you'll be responsible for supporting new vehicle projects in terms of all required planning activities from concept through the vehicle pre-series phase to Start of Production (SOP), particularly in respect of press feasibility and press tool project planning for Body In White (BIW) pressed parts. This role will play a pivotal role in driving projects and technologies delivering on Bentley’s promise of performance and luxury through the unique fusion of craftsmanship, innovation and sustainability.

This role will see you liaising frequently and working cross-functionally with Group colleagues based in Germany and Europe so it would be advantageous if you could speak German to conversational level (although this is not essential). The role will also require travel to Europe around once per month so it is essential you are flexible in this.



Reporting into the Technical Expert- Pressed Parts, your main responsibilities include;

* Accountable for project deliverables to a specified timeframe, quality and cost in terms of pressed parts and press tools for complex Outer and Inner aluminium panels
* Responsible for leading prompt concern and technical problem resolution, the coordination of resource, and ability to provide containment solutions when necessary.
* Developing and maintaining specialist technical and business knowledge and capability, to ensure appropriate technical direction is provided.
* Responsible for press feasibility, method planning and planning of press tools required for series production, including pre-series planning and quality maturation ensuring readiness for SOP
* Accountable for developing and influencing the strategic technical direction within Press & Body Production Planning and able to demonstrate a broad awareness of processes and operational requirements within the technology area.
* Maintain effective communication internally, with external suppliers and within VW Group.
* Responsibility to ensure factual and effective communication is provided at all levels, including within all cross-functional working teams.



About the Team
This role is part of the Press & Body team within Production Planning (PPK). Around half of the team is dedicated to Press, focusing on the single part metal pressings and associated press tools; the other half dedicated to the assembly processes in the Bodyshop that join all the parts together to make the Body In White (BIW).

The BIW is the foundation for Bentley achieving class-leading exterior design, peerless quality, precision, and exterior execution for our discerning customers. As part of the PPK team you will be taking a leading role in bringing the future vision of performance and luxury to life shaping Bentley’s next generation of extraordinary vehicles.





About you – Skills and Experience

* Relevant Engineering degree with a number of years post-qualification experience
* Experience of working with an OEM/ Automotive, Press Shop or Tool Shop environment with relevant technical and project experience in terms of BIW development, planning and pre-series maturation process
* Experience of press feasibility, method planning and forming simulations, Autoform experience and experience with aluminium would be advantageous
* Experience of pressed part manufacturing processes, projects and series production, as well as relevant BIW assembly processes
* Strong influencing skills and communication, with a commitment to building positive relationships with other functions, external suppliers, and Group as an outward facing specialist.
* Ability to share technical knowledge effectively with others, coach and guide as appropriate.
* A proven knowledge of relevant BIW processes and systems
* Basic CAD skills (preferably CATIA V5)
* Demonstrable experience of process improvement activities within the specific technology.
* Good business awareness and ability to make and influence strategic decisions within business context.
