Overview
Are you outgoing and friendly and passionate about your work, if so, you could be the ideal caring Personal Assistant that is required to support a man in his own home and get him active in the community. The post is for 6 hours a week which will be worked flexibly as agreed in advance in line with the needs of the employer. The aim of this direct payment is to reduce the clients social isolation and help him with regaining some independent living, the client has poor mobility following several strokes and will be completely dependent on your help to go into town and enjoy the things we all enjoy, Coffee, going to the bank, attending appointments etc. As his PA you will be re‑opening the door to his social freedom, giving him back the choices we all take for granted. without this support he is unable to leave his flat This post is funded by the local authority through the Direct Payments scheme and is intended to enable the Client to remain independently living at home with support.
Responsibilities
* Provide the means for him to socialise outside in the community.
* Assist with meal planning and preparation.
* Assist with some light domestic cleaning.
* Reduce social isolation.
* Ensure the clients safety and wellbeing at all times when on duty.
* Carry out any other reasonable requests that the employer may make from time to time.
Qualifications
* Caring, honest, firm but patient.
* Proactive individual with local knowledge of area A.
* Good sense of humour.
* Ability to develop and maintain a supportive relationship.
* Flexibility around hours of work and main duties of the job.
* Excellent work ethic with good time keeping.
* Self‑motivated and able to use own initiative.
* Confidentiality and awareness of privacy.
Benefits and Conditions
5.6 weeks’ holiday per year (pro‑rata). This appointment requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which will incur no cost. Wages will be paid in arrears on a 4‑weekly basis once a valid National Insurance (NI) number has been provided. You must be eligible to work in the UK. You will receive all statutory entitlements, including annual leave, and will be issued with a Personal Assistants Handbook and required mandatory training. The cost of mandatory training will be covered through the direct payment. Failure to attend mandatory training may result in your employment offer being withdrawn.
