How you'll make a difference: As an Employability and Skills Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting young people aged 13-16, primarily within an educational context, who have been identified as being at risk of NEET, to prepare for a post-16 destination. Acting as the link between internal and external teams and services, you will help some of our more vulnerable young people achieve positive outcomes and transitions.
1. Develop personal action plans and identify suitable career pathways and learning programmes for those using our service.
2. Support young people regularly to overcome barriers and, where appropriate, refer them to further progression opportunities that provide additional wrap-around support.
3. Collaborate with schools, colleges, local authority teams, employers, and specialist providers to identify educational and employment pathways for young people 'at risk of NEET'.
4. Provide support for exam readiness and be available on exam results day to offer guidance and advice.
5. Maintain accurate records to inform practice and improve outcomes.
This is a limited-term contract from 1st October 2025 to 30th September 2026. Salary is pro-rata to hours worked. The role is primarily school-based across South Gloucestershire, with a hybrid of working at our Yate office, from home, and occasionally at other community venues.
Due to the nature of this role, a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required. You must have a full, valid driving licence with access to a vehicle or alternative means of travel, as travel throughout the area is expected.
Minimum qualifications: at least 5 GCSEs (grade 4 or above) or equivalent, including English and maths. Previous experience working with young people and understanding their barriers in an educational context are essential.
Preferred qualifications include an IAG, youth work, or teaching qualification, or willingness to undertake further training.
Interviews will be held on 8th September 2025.
