SOUL Nursery is an Ofsted good rated Early Years setting providing care and education for children aged from 3 months to 5 years. SOUL Nursery is an extension of SOUL Church, on Heartsease Lane, Norwich, and we welcome families of all backgrounds, including children with additional needs. We aim to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment where we make learning fun through play. We feel it is important to work together to help children feel loved, accepted and nurtured.
About the Role
We are looking to employ a term time Early years Room Lead, working 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday all year round.
The successful applicant would work closely with the room lead and will be expected to:
* Lead a successful team of staff within the SOUL Nursery room through motivation, encouragement, and develop them in accordance with the values of SOUL Nursery
* To manage and sustain a high standard of care and education for all children in your given room
* To provide inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children in your room and to maintain a safe, stimulating and enjoyable environment
* To ensure Special Educational Needs and Behaviour policies and procedures are followed within the room
* To oversee the day-to-day management of the setting, including staff management and administration during the absence of the SOUL Nursery Manager
* To supervise and support allocated staff, students and volunteers to achieve high standards of practice
* Promote the care and safety of children to ensure that any welfare or child protection concerns are acted upon immediately and appropriately
* Ensure safeguarding policy, procedures, and guidance are followed in accordance with local guidance and national legislation
* Ensure allegations and concerns raised about adults are reported to the Manager or in their absence report to the SOUL Nursery appointed representative at SOUL Church
* Support the implementation of SOUL Nursery’s policies and procedures, ensuring that your team, students and volunteers within the setting are working to them at all times
* Support the Manager to ensure that your team are meeting the ethos and requirements of SOUL Nursery and can access training to ensure that Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is up to date
* To manage volunteers, students on placements, and work experience in the setting, providing all reports as necessary
* Supervise your room staff as appropriate and in accordance with SOUL Nursery’s policies, procedures and standards- prioritising safeguarding through policies and practices
* Take responsibility for ensuring the health, cleanliness, and safety of the children and their environment at all times
* Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures like fire safety procedures, emergency evacuation procedures and collection policies
* Help set up and clear away daily and attend any staff meetings and cleaning days
* Adhere to the setting’s code of conduct
* To act as a key person to a small group of children and to ensure their needs are reflected in the planning of routines and activities
* To keep informative, accurate and up-to-date records, including records of progress and any behavioural or developmental reports
* Liaise with parents/carers and attend parents’/carers’ meetings to allow two-way discussion of their children’s progress as necessary
* To contribute to and attend supervisions and staff appraisal
* Ensure effective implementation of the Special Educational Needs policy
* Work with parents, SENCO and staff to plan and implement a Support Plan to continuously evaluate and improve practice
* To attend training, as identified by the SOUL Nursery Manager and to keep up to date with current food Safety, First Aid and Child Protection courses
