We have two positions available, one is permanent and the other is fixed term until 31st August 2026. Please specify on your application form which position you wish to apply for.
Teamwork is key at St Annes. As a school for students with complex medical needs and Severe Learning Difficulties, the Higher Level Teaching Assistant will play a key role in providing a safe and productive learning environment as well as planning and delivering a range of learning experiences inside and outside the classroom.
Whilst mechanical aids are used where practicably possible, there is an element of manual handling involved in the role as is the requirement to assist with personal care, for example: feeding, changing and toileting.
A warm, caring and patient personality is essential to work at St Annes and you must be able to:
* Show superb communication skills with children, young people, their carers and other agencies
* Be proactive and show initiative
* Plan and prioritise under pressure
* Be a trustworthy role model in and around our school community
* Respect and maintain confidentiality whilst adhering to safeguarding principles at all times
* Demonstrate you really care about children, particularly those who find learning and managing their behaviour difficult.
* Demonstrate that you have the necessary skills and experience for a Special Needs Education setting.
You will have formal HLTA status with experience of working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. In return we offer you the chance to join an award-winning school and work with inspiring children and families and carers.
If this sounds like the role for you, please complete an application form. You must provide at least the last 10 years of employment or education history and explain any gaps and you must have a legal right to work in the UK. Appointments will be subject to satisfactory disclosure checks at enhanced level by the Disclosure and Barring Service as well as other background checks including professional references.
Online applications close on 22 June. Applications will be received at the school up until 9am on 23 June.
If you already work for the council and have an Employee Self Service (ESS) account, please login to apply online using your ESS username and password.
Secondment
