IPS (Individual Placement and Support) is an evidence‑based approach to helping people with mental health conditions find and keep a paid job. Having a job can bring numerous benefits to people and can help in their recovery.
Main duties of the job
You will support clients with job searching, completing CVs and application forms, interview preparation and liaising with Jobcentre Plus. Working with local employers, trade unions and employment agencies you will secure paid employment and support them and their clients for up to one year to retain the opportunity.

Job responsibilities
* Establish ongoing monitoring and support systems for clients once employment is secured.
* Review employment gained to ensure it meets the needs of both clients and employers.
* Offer support to employers and clients with any problems that may arise and promote disability awareness among employers.
* Engage effectively with agencies, employers, clients and sometimes their families.
* Apply high standards, maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, attend training and demonstrate a strong commitment to employment and social inclusion.
* Participate in IPS supervision and clinical support from the community mental health team with ongoing training and development.
Person Specification
Essential
* Qualifications: Numeracy and literacy level 2 (or above); minimum of level 4 qualification related to IPS practice, or 2 years of experience in delivering employment or health/social care support, coaching or guidance.
* Ability to work collaboratively with MDT members, deliver employment support interventions, communicate effectively, and adapt interventions within own scope of practice.
* Plan and organise caseload, prioritise effectively, and complete statutory training.
* Completed ‘Doing What Works’ IPS programme and ability to lead a group session.
* Use employment‑related software, provide vocational assessments, and assess individual strengths for employment.
* Collect and report data to support service performance and evaluation.
* Effective written and oral communication, marketing and negotiation skills, and organisational/time‑management abilities.
Desirable
* Additional qualifications relevant to the role.
* Experienced in negotiating with employers on behalf of service users.
* Creative problem‑solving, flexibility, and openness to new methods.
* Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team and lead group sessions.
