Divisional Director Surgery, ITU and Cancer Newham Hospital
Newham Hospital is looking for a talented and motivated clinical leader to join the hospital executive board as divisional director for surgery, ITU and cancer.
The divisional director will lead the division with support from the Divisional Manager/Associate Director for Elective Care and Associated Director of Nursing to deliver high quality care to the local people of Newham.
Main duties of the job
This is an exciting time for Newham with the development of an orthopaedic High Volume Low Complexity (HVLC) surgical hub in a stand-alone unit on the Newham Hospital campus which is also the host for Barts Health Group Orthopaedic Clinical Network. The hospital delivers elective day case and short stay surgery from the main hospital site. Further work is underway to secure funding to open 2 additional elective theatres, totaling 4 elective and 3 emergency theatres on the main hospital site, in addition to the 4 theatres in our standalone elective unit. The surgical strategy for Barts Health is to develop this into a second HVLC hub for gynaecology and general surgery. We have recently opened a new state-of-the-art 12-bed ITU at the hospital.
The Divisional Director is a key clinical leader and member of the hospital executive board, reporting directly to the hospital chief executive. The role is critical for delivering the strategic surgical vision and requires a highly visible individual capable of influencing across all levels of the organization. Values-based compassionate leadership is essential, as our teams and patients are at the heart of our work.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
