The Team:
The Senior Rotational Pharmacist will be based at the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) and will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across a broad range of specialty areas. These include both inpatient and outpatient services such as paediatrics, intensive care, acute medicine, emergency medicine, infectious diseases, compounding and cancer services, rehabilitation, and sub-acute services.
In addition to hospital-based rotations, the pharmacist will participate in the Virtual Care Pharmacy Service, which encompasses innovative models of care such as Hospital in the Home, Care@home, and other emerging virtual care initiatives. These services operate across multiple locations, including the LGH precinct, off-site locations, and may expand further in response to community needs.
The role may also involve providing remote virtual support to services in North-West and Southern regions of Tasmania, with occasional intrastate travel required to support these areas.
All pharmacy services within the department work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to deliver excellence in healthcare, with a shared commitment to improving outcomes for consumers, supporting the healthcare workforce, and enhancing the wellbeing of the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
Perform a variety of pharmacy duties on a rotational basis following appropriate training. This may include providing coverage within other specialised pharmacy services. Lead and/or participate in quality improvement, research, and education of self and others.
Provide a high standard of clinical care in accordance with professional standards, best practice, and person-centred care to inpatients, outpatients, and staff of the Department under the general direction and guidance of the Relevant Team Leader or Manager across a range of specialty areas, including Clinical Pharmacy services, Dispensary services, and Compounding and Cancer Support Services.
You will need to:
* Deliver high standard pharmacy care to patients across various complexities, assuming professional responsibility consistent with a senior clinical position.
* Work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver best practice pharmacy services or programs relevant to outpatient and inpatient care.
* Provide supervision, guidance, support, or education to interns, level 1-2 pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other health professionals to assist with orientation, supervision, and clinical competency training.

Pharmacy Careers in the Tasmanian Health Service
Details of appointment: Allied Health Professional, Level 3
Permanent full-time, shift worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Applicants should note that, for twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar vacancies.
Salary: $110,425 to $121,907 per annum, with an Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution on top.
* Salary range in accordance with the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No.2 of 2022.
Salary Packaging:
Access salary packaging benefits including living expenses up to $9,010, $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year, and other benefits if eligible.
Allowances:
* Access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.
* Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum.
* A market allowance of $10,000 per annum pro-rata, approved until 17 May 2026, with review prior to expiry.

* Tertiary qualification approved by the Pharmacy Board of Australia or an overseas qualification eligible for skills assessment through the Australian Pharmacy Council.
