JOB: Operations Manager
LOCATION: Grimsby
SALARY: up to £45k
STATUS: Permanent
My client, a well-respected international company, is seeking an Operations Manager for their warehouse/distribution operation on the outskirts of Grimsby. This is an exciting time for the business with growth and development as key factors.
As Operations Manager, your role will be to ensure an efficient and profitable service that provides and exceeds agreed service levels to customers.
You will develop the activities of the site to ensure continuous improvement of Key Performance Indicators, as agreed with the Operations Director/Head of Warehousing. You will also collaborate with other key managers to achieve the Company’s business aims and objectives.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
* Warehouse management experience (preferably cold store warehousing)
* Extensive experience of operational management and control within 3PL
* Graduate calibre or equivalent
* Excellent leadership skills
* Proven commercial acumen
* IT literate and numerate
* Good presentation skills
* Excellent problem-solving skills
* National CPC desirable
Within all written procedures, handbooks, and Company policies and standards, your responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring the efficient operation of designated warehouse operations to meet financial targets, budgets, and cost management
* Meeting and exceeding Service Level Agreements using pre-determined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
* Optimising resources (people, equipment, space) to meet objectives, including staffing, work patterns, equipment utilisation, process mapping, and facilities management
* Building and working with multi-functional teams towards company goals and objectives
* Building and maintaining productive relationships with customers and suppliers, working with Directors on contract extension, new business, vendor, and account management plans
* Driving continuous improvement and innovation through self-generated ideas and best practices
* Maintaining good rapport with staff, managers, and external bodies such as Trade Unions
* Ensuring full compliance with legal authorities (e.g., O license, Health & Safety, Environment, Local Authorities)
* Managing managers and teams regarding KPIs, budgets, forecasts, and asset management
