Job Summary
University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Trust’s Estates Maintenance Department is looking for an experienced Mechanical Assistant based in Bristol. The role offers a starting salary of £28,497 pro‑rate, overtime and unsocial enhancement payments, plus generous annual leave and a pension scheme.
Responsibilities
* Assist in the delivery of the planned preventative maintenance regime as instructed by team leaders and complete jobs on Agility and Zetasafe via PDAs.
* React promptly to day‑to‑day breakdowns of mechanical equipment/assets as instructed by the team leader/help desk, ensuring response and completion times meet Trust KPI’s.
* Assist with minor repairs to cooling and heating systems, such as gasket repairs and replacements.
* Physically carry out manual work using safe working practices, safeguarding the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
* Participate in LRTP lift release of trapped passenger/s rota (training provided).
* Work shifts on a rotating pattern (e.g., 0700‑1700 or 0900‑1900).
Qualifications
* Experience working as a domestic or commercial plumber in any setting.
* City & Guild Mechanical/Plumbing qualification at Level 2 or equivalent.
* Desire to work in a large healthcare environment.
