The Role
Blackford is a purpose built complex of two homes conjoined by a staff area and support 8 gents with a mixture of Autism, learning disabilities, Downs Syndrome, complex needs and behaviours of concern. Each supported individual has their own room and ensuite built to their needs and share a communal area, kitchen, activities room and large garden with an outdoor gym.
You will be part of a dedicated and friendly team, supporting individuals with all aspects of daily living including meal preparation, medication, going to appointments and activities, managing personal finances, support with moving and handling and personal care. You’ll also provide emotional support and assist them to maintain relationships with family and friends. Some individuals have complex communication needs and use different communication tools to meet their needs.
In our service we may use CALM which are physical intervention and escape techniques to ensure the safety of supported individuals, colleagues, and members of the public. Techniques include but are not limited to posture and distance when supporting, understanding triggers and escalations signs along with guiding individuals away to deescalate situations.
Responsibilities
* Experience in a care setting
* Knowledge of care plans
* Have an empathetic and caring nature
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Confidence in using computers
* Be able to work well in a team environment and on your own
* Good organisational skills
Shift Patterns
* 7:30am - 10pm
* 8am - 9:30pm
* Sleepover shift from 8am until 8:15am the following day
* Waking night from 9:30pm until 8:30am
* Additional £90.20 for every sleepover shift covered
