Job Description:
NHS Fife is seeking a motivated and skilled Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join our Cellular Pathology team. Applications are also welcomed from HCPC registered Trainee Biomedical Scientists working towards or willing to pursue the IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cellular Pathology. Trainees will follow an in-house training program, perform diagnostic work, and complete the Specialist portfolio within 2-3 years. Trainees will be paid on band 5 and move to band 6 upon portfolio completion.
The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality diagnostic services, processing and analyzing histological specimens. Responsibilities include specimen dissection, embedding, microtomy, immunohistochemistry, and special stains. The role also involves contributing to quality assurance, UKAS compliance, and supporting training and supervision. Excellent communication, organizational skills, and a commitment to professional development and patient care are essential.
