We are looking for a
Quality in Design & Test Support Supervisor
to join our Research & Development team. This role is key to ensuring the ongoing quality of products, processes, and testing in a busy manufacturing and product design laboratory environment.
You'll oversee daily lab operations, supervise test support staff, manage bookings and test availability, and ensure compliance with quality standards and regulations. This position is also responsible for improving quality systems, conducting audits, and analysing data to identify areas for improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and supervise test support staff, including training, scheduling, and performance management.
* Develop and implement quality control procedures, ensuring adherence to standards and regulations.
* Manage laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance and safety compliance.
* Oversee testing and analysis of products and processes, working closely with design engineers and production teams.
* Maintain accurate records, generate reports, and present quality data to stakeholders.
* Investigate non-conformances, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives across processes and systems.
* Collaborate effectively with colleagues, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
Skills & Competencies
* Strong knowledge of laboratory techniques, quality control procedures, and relevant regulations (e.g., ISO, UL, LVD, EMC, UKCA, CE).
* Proven leadership and supervisory skills with experience managing teams in a lab or quality assurance environment.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Strong communication skills, able to present findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
* Highly organized with strong time management skills.
* Ability to understand and interpret standards/directives and recommend process updates.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); familiarity with Smartsheets.
* Experience with CAD tools and PDM systems (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, Siemens Teamcenter) is an advantage.
Education & Experience
* HNC/HND or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field (desirable).
* Previous supervisory experience in a test or quality assurance laboratory.
