As an integral member of the multi-disciplinary team the post-holder will work in partnership demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours to fulfil the key functions of the Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service (ADRS). In particular the post-holder will be responsible for the assessment, formulation, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care using a strength based recovery focused approach to care that proactively involves the person and optimises self-management. The post holder is required to be able to undertake duties without direct supervision as well as supporting and supervising work undertaken by junior members of staff and Healthcare Support Workers. The post holder is responsible for working with patients, carers and other professionals/ agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies. This involves working in a variety of home/near to home community environments. Participating in regular Nurse Supervision and Nurse Line Management are important aspects of the role. Supervising the practice of others, undertaking mentorship/ preceptorship responsibilities and contributing to the learning and development of the staff team are important aspects of this role. Caring is fundamental to nursing services and to all nursing functions. The core values of nursing must underpin the practice of every nurse and drive care that promotes positive and equitable engagement with patients, families and carers as the central focus of practice.
Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
1. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Addictions Staff Nurse to be part of East Dunbartonshire Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service
2. This role will be based in the Kirkintilloch Health and Care Centre
3. The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00
4. Please note this is a fixed-term post for 12 months
Key responsibilities:
5. Function as an ADRS Nurse/key worker within a multi-disciplinary team for a defined patient caseload
6. Carry out holistic assessment of care needs, including risk assessment, planning, implementing, and evaluating programmes of care
7. Perform all relevant forms of nursing care to meet individual patient needs in the least restrictive and least disruptive manner possible
8. Respond to patients health promotion needs, focusing on improving mental and physical well-being
9. Identify and respond to patient needs related to vulnerability, gender, health, domestic abuse, adult/child protection, and/or self-harm
10. Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and carers, ensuring needs are met within a participative framework promoting equality, dignity, respect, and cultural/spiritual diversity
11. Work proactively with other agencies/services (e.g., interpreter services) to support effective communication
12. Work within agreed competency-based parameters and deliver evidence-based psychological therapies/approaches in individual or group settings where required
13. Administer prescribed medication/treatments in line with NHSGG&C policy; monitor treatment effectiveness and manage unwanted side effects

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
Essential
15. Registered Nurse Level 1 NMC registration
16. Educated to minimum degree level or equivalent
17. Evidence of active and ongoing Continuing Professional Development
18. Working knowledge and application of physical and/or mental health nursing care
19. Working knowledge and application of risk assessment and factors affecting physical/mental health, wellness, and recovery
20. Evidence of supervision/reflective practice
21. Evidence of valuesbased practice
22. Experience of using digital technology/information systems, email, and basic applications
23. Experience of working in a community environment

31. Completed a recognised mentor preparation programme/registered mentor
