The Role
Construction Property Damage Solicitor – Manchester – Hybrid – up to £55,000
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Insurance Lawyer to join a well-established national law firm within its specialist Construction Property Damage and Recoveries team. This role focuses on acting for insurer clients on a wide range of construction-related property claims, including defects, site damage, contractor disputes, and associated perils such as fire, flood, impact, and escape of water.
The successful candidate will manage a varied and technical caseload, with claims typically valued in excess of £10,000 and exposure to higher-value matters in the £10,000–£100,000 range and beyond. You will take ownership of matters from instruction through to resolution, providing clear, commercial advice and supporting client objectives throughout.
This is a client-facing role for a technically strong and commercially minded lawyer with a keen interest in construction recoveries. In addition to managing claims, you will have the opportunity to support client development, including mentoring, training, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
The team regularly delivers seminars and workshops to insurer clients, and candidates with a genuine interest in construction risk, defect claims, and site recoveries will thrive in this role.
The Candidate
* Qualified Solicitor (or equivalent) with relevant technical expertise
* 1–4 years’ experience in construction, property damage, or recovery litigation (claimant experience preferred)
* Experience managing a caseload of construction or property damage claims
* Strong working knowledge of construction property recoveries, site-related disputes, and contractor liability
* Ability to handle technically complex claims, reviewing site reports, contracts, and evidence to establish recovery positions
* Strong analytical skills and confident in drafting legal documentation and correspondence
* Client-focused with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team
* Enthusiasm for negotiation, advocacy, and technically challenging construction disputes
