We currently have a great opportunity for an experienced Electrical Technician to join our Waste Team at Crossness STW. This is a fantastic opportunity for an electrical maintenance technician to join the second-largest STW in the UK. You will join a close-knit team with members of varying ages and abilities, all performing at a high level. This role offers excellent learning potential with opportunities to cross-skill into other disciplines.
As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our sewage treatment works operates safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods.
What you'll be doing as an Electrical Technician
1. Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs promptly to prevent process interruptions, including diagnosing complex faults and repairing during incidents.
2. Perform planned maintenance on electrical equipment in line with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.
3. Provide technical advice to the team, reference up-to-date technical knowledge, and support or train technical trainees as needed.
4. Utilize technical equipment such as pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, electronic control systems (VSDs, automatic valves, penstocks), measurement devices (flow, level, pressure), programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
Base Location: Crossness - Abbey Wood, South East London - SE2 9AQ.
Working Pattern: 38 hours Monday-Friday, with inclusion in an out-of-hours rota for additional pay.
PPE, tools, and a van will be provided.
What you should bring to the role:
* Significant experience in electrical systems, with a time-served apprenticeship or NVQ level 3 or higher in electrical engineering.
* Qualifications in BS7671 or 18th Edition wiring regulations, with experience in maintaining, testing, installing, and fault diagnosis on electrical plant equipment.
* Experience with 3-phase systems.
* Knowledge of health and safety policies and procedures.
* Physical fitness to work in confined spaces, with training provided.
* Participation in a 24/7 standby rota after training, with additional pay.
* A full UK driving license.
* Role-specific training to meet safety and competency requirements.
