At our Winfrith nuclear licensed site, we hold the most extensive UK and overseas authorizations and safety cases among UK commercial companies. Our qualified personnel provide expertise in radioactive waste treatment, including radiochemistry, treatment, encapsulation, size reduction, incineration, and disposal. This enables us to deliver innovative and integrated solutions for complex waste projects.
We are looking for a hands-on Project Scientist to work on decontamination and radiological inventory management at our Winfrith, Dorset site.
The role
To support bidding processes and execute the technical aspects of radioactive waste management projects for nuclear and industrial clients, applying scientific, engineering, and project management principles.
1. Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to guide tactical and strategic decisions.
2. Assist with testing activities, including equipment preparation, deployment, staging/breakdown, and sampling.
3. Adhere to current standards, codes, and procedures for safe and effective equipment use, maintenance, and policies.
4. Prepare reports, technical data, timesheets, and project expense reports.
5. Work with line managers to secure and develop resources needed for tasks.
6. Utilize appropriate tools and software to provide technical information for projects.
7. Identify and manage project risks appropriately.
The person
* Degree-qualified in Nuclear Science or Nuclear Engineering is essential.
