As a Trust Senior, you will be allocated a portfolio of trust clients. The team currently provides services for approximately 300+ trusts, probates, estates, small private charities, individual clients and their families, and family office administrative services.
You will liaise with other members of the London Trust Team, departments such as Personal Tax, and interact with clients, HMRC, solicitors, stockbrokers, and other professional bodies.
Initiative and self-management are essential, based on experience in previous roles.
Responsibilities
Some of the responsibilities include:
* Preparation of client trust, estate, and probate work (generally returns and accounts)
* Preparation of IHT and CGT forms as required
* Advising clients regarding trust wind-up, income distributions, and management of tax payments
* Monitoring work progress on allocated tasks and updating workflow
* Being aware of budget constraints and notifying senior team members if a task is delayed
* Maintaining communication with clients and colleagues about progress on key tasks
* Identifying opportunities to improve internal procedures and assisting with implementing changes
* Developing technical skills in trust, estate, and probate tax matters through training, research, and legislative updates
* Ensuring trust registration with TRS, including obtaining appropriate client ID documents
* Supporting the trust team in achieving departmental fee targets
Requirements
* 1-3 years of experience in trust work
* STEP membership or willingness to study for the qualification
* Studying or willing to study for accountancy or tax qualifications (full study package provided)
* Probate and estate experience is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided
