Overview

We are seeking a talented Safeguarding Co-Ordinator to join our dynamic Integrity Regulatory and Competitions Team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for safeguarding and integrity in sport, and for collaborative working in both the community and professional game in Wales.


Responsibilities

* Record and manage all safeguarding related referrals and concerns, including evidence gathering, information sharing and multi-agency working.
* Provide support in safeguarding investigations, by evidence gathering and information sharing.
* Attend Child and Adult Protection professional strategy meetings and other safeguarding related meetings.
* Convene and organise WRU Safeguarding Panels relating to investigations and safe recruitment.
* Conduct risk assessments for safe recruitment in accordance with the WRU Safeguarding Policy.
* Carry out duties to help support the WRU/PS mission statement in line with the WRU Group values.
* Support other functions in the Integrity Regulatory and Competitions Team (Discipline; Player Welfare; Anti-Doping; Education and Training and Competitions) when required.
* Work with key partners to deliver Safe and Inclusive Environments.
* Maintain stakeholder engagement and share best practice through consultation groups and development of safeguarding resources and tools.


Person - Qualifications

* Preferably experienced in safeguarding and regulatory matters.
* Experience of working within a sport governing body or organisation, ideally within safeguarding or regulatory position.
* Strong problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and attention to detail.
* Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills.
* Experience of database management.
* Excellent IT skills.
* Excellent teamwork skills.


The Role

* Responsible for recording and managing all safeguarding related referrals and concerns.
* Responsible for managing the digital case management process.
* Provide support in safeguarding investigations by evidence gathering and information sharing.
* Carry out safeguarding related meetings and participate in professional strategy meetings as required.
* Convene safeguarding panels relating to investigations and safe recruitment.
* Development of safeguarding resources to support Clubs and Regions.
* Assist clubs in developing Club Safeguarding Plans and support Club Safeguarding Officers and relevant personnel in member clubs.
* Support other URC Integrity and Competitions team functions when required.
* Working with key partners to deliver Safe and Inclusive Environments.
* Carry out duties to support the WRU/PS mission statement in line with the WRU Group values.

* External agencies (e.g., NSPCC, Ann Craft Trust, Welsh Sports Association, DBS, Sport Wales, Children Services, Police, etc.)


WRU Requirements

The WRU requires proficiency in IT skills (specifically Microsoft packages). Excellent written and verbal communication are essential, along with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh and a valid UK driving license is desirable. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
