Are you an experienced and enthusiastic Quantity Surveyor seeking a role with a business that promotes a welcoming ethos with low staff turnover? We are delighted to be working in partnership with this successful family-owned house builder as they look to appoint a Quantity Surveyor. With a member of the team retiring, we have a rare opportunity to join this well established team based in Dunfermline. As Quantity Surveyor, your day to day responsibilities will include: Undertaking site feasibility studies and appraisals. Participating in identifying areas of risk/scope and develop/monitor with the project team. Managing and produce/take offs for Bills of Quantities. Selecting subcontractor & materials supplier in conjunction with project team. Undertaking tender negotiation / value engineering. Attending handover meeting to receive project from estimating department. Establishing a long-term working relationship with all members of Client team. Managing / monitor/report on all commercial aspects of projects. Developing cost control documentation using information from final agreed contract sum. Preparing cost report documentation (CVR) and maintain accurate projected cost to completion. Overseeing all commercial and contractual aspects of subcontract packages through to final account closure. Producing monthly payments to subcontractors within the framework of the Construction Act including the issue of any contractual notices. Determine labour only sub-contractor (bricklayer and joiner) package values. Agreeing and maintain labour only sub-contractor price balance with Site Manager (weekly). Producing valuations / applications / claims in line with contract requirements. Identifying reimbursement of variations to the contracted scope of works. Agreement of Final Accounts. Key skills required for the role: Qualified to a minimum of HNC level in Quantity Surveying (Or equivalent). Strong IT skills with good working knowledge of MS Office packages. Post qualification construction experience with an established main contractor with particular emphasis on Design and Build experience. Ability to demonstrate a track record on commercial projects under varying forms of main contract / subcontract. Experience of package negotiation and demonstrating the ability to effectively influence and optimise successful results. Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail. Experienced in interpreting and presenting data in relation to budgets and valuations. Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, warranty provisions, Health and Safety requirements Etc.
