Role: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Islington
Pay rate: Up to £650 per week
Start date: September 2025
Horizon Teachers are seeking experienced and pro-active Teaching Assistants to support Primary aged students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs who have been permanently excluded and allocated a place within the school through SEN consultations on a short-term placement.

This school uses a trauma-informed approach, where staff work closely with families and students to develop positive relationships to remove barriers to learning and personal development
What we are looking for:
The successful candidate will have previous experience supporting Students with Special Educational Needs or Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs.
Knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, including statutory requirements for students with an EHCP
Commitment to forming positive relationships with young people and adults in a school environment
Experience in assisting in the delivery of educational work programmes by participating in day to day learning activities, supporting children so that they achieve to the best of their abilities
To support in planning and evaluating programmes and adapting teaching materials to suit the requirements of individual children or groups of children
To contribute to the delivery of child programmes, including literacy and numeracy, keyboard skills, life skills and to ensure that the programme is always delivered professionally
