Kick-start your engineering career with real responsibility, real impact, and real support!
Are you an Insitu Mechanical Engineering graduate ready to take your skills beyond the classroom?
This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-paced, project-driven environment where you'll take ownership of insitu machining projects from concept to completion. You'll be delivering reactive, bespoke engineering solutions to time-critical challenges-working hands-on, under pressure, and with full visibility of the project lifecycle.
From the initial enquiry to final invoicing, you'll play a key role in shaping engineering outcomes that matter.
The Role
As a Graduate Project Engineer, you'll be at the heart of operations-liaising with clients, designing solutions, supporting onsite jobs, and ensuring every detail is right. No two days are the same, and the reactive nature of the work means you'll need to be adaptable, decisive, and a strong communicator.
You'll be supported and guided from day one, but also trusted to take the lead as your confidence grows.
Key Responsibilities as an Insitu Graduate Project Engineer:
* Create bespoke machining solutions using CAD (AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks)
* Generate drawings, work orders, and tooling specs for non-standard jobs
* Estimate project timeframes and costs, ensuring alignment with pricing structures
* Plan and coordinate time-sensitive projects with technical and commercial oversight
* Act as the main point of contact for customers-building rapport and trust
* Join project teams onsite to support and deliver machining operations
* Monitor job progress, adjust plans, and ensure smooth delivery
* Conduct site visits for quoting or project support (some travel and overnight stays required)
* Contribute to the development of new tools and processes
* Support continuous improvement and your own professional learning
What You'll Need:
Essential:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Sound knowledge of mechanical systems and principles
* Accuracy, attention to detail, and a methodical approach
* Strong communication skills-both written and verbal
* Confidence using CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks)
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
* Comfortable juggling competing priorities in fast-moving environments
* Team-oriented, but able to work independently
* A UK driving licence for site-based work
Desirable:
* Knowledge of machining methods (especially insitu techniques)
* Experience in client-facing or sales-focused technical environments
This role is ideal for a candidate who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys hands-on engineering work, and is passionate about problem-solving and customer satisfaction.
Working Hours: Normal working week is 38hrs Monday-Friday, although there will be additional hours required as dictated by workload and projects.
Why Join Us?
The Company offers a work culture built on trust, ownership, and real engineering challenges-not bureaucracy or repetition. As part of a family-run team, you'll gain a breadth of experience that's hard to find in large corporations.
Benefits:
* Ongoing Learning & Development -including support for IMECHE
* Enhanced rates, if supporting machining job on site
* Holiday entitlement, 25 days annual holidays and 8 days public holiday each holiday year
* One additional day annual holiday for every 10 years' service completed
* Sick pay - up to 12 weeks full pay
* Enter the company pension scheme immediately
* Company pension scheme, offering 4.2% company contribution
