We have a great opportunity available for a Planning Assistant to join our Planning, Scheduling & Control team here at Bristol Water.
What will you be doing?
As Planning Assistant you’ll be delivering quality planning, scheduling and street works services across our network, ensuring all work is delivered within agreed service level agreements across the designated area.
Working cross-functionally, with delivery partners, operational teams, and other stakeholders to optimise, implement and deliver a robust end to end access plan for field-based teams.
Day to day you’ll be…
* Planning, scheduling and noticing all works to ensure right first-time delivery.
* Plan with a customer first ethos: minimise down time of field teams (e.g. Travel time, aborted jobs)
* Manage the integration of all access and street works requests, prioritising work to enable business requirements in accordance with all relevant standards and instructions.
* Assist with delivery of effective area/ local planning meetings with all work requestors/ deliverers.
* Build relationships with delivery partners, stakeholders and regulatory authorities
* Create collaborative relationships with all stakeholders for both planned and emergency work to prioritise safety, performance and efficiency.
* Ensure the change control process is applied in line with specified company policies.
* Record planning information for the area. Provide timely and accurate updates to meet planning timescales and carry out appropriate validation checks.
* Monitor the potential impact of cancelled/aborted work, FPNs, overruns and failures across all options available and make proposals to mitigate accordingly as required.
* Ensure compliance with current legislations against the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, Safety at Street Works and Road Works A Code of Practice.
* Stores allocation – ensure accurate provision of stores/ materials for scheduled activities.
* Update all corporate systems with all required details such as SAP and FFA.
* To help promote a best practice culture with respect to health, safety and the environment to ensure that all reasonable steps are taken to ensure personal health and safety and that of others.
In this role you will also have opportunity to cover other area groups in the event of sickness, leave or operational need as required.
What we’re looking for...
To be successful in this role you will need core planning skills and the ability to prioritise workload and manage deadlines.
You will need strong communication skills and a customer focussed approach; you’ll also have a logical and methodical approach to problem solving.
Ideally, you’ll also have…
* Knowledge of relevant geography and network capability.
* Computer literate ideally experience of SAP, Street Manager and FFA.
* Able to work under pressure within a continuous planning process.
* Ideally, you’ll have experience of technical planning and understanding of water network distribution activities.
