Job Overview:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Yard Person to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for receiving vehicles into stock from various vendors, including those arriving via transporters and trade plate drivers. You will conduct initial cosmetic inspections on vehicles, documenting any faults, damage, or other discrepancies. This is a critical role in ensuring that our inventory is accurately recorded and maintained to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Cosmetic Inspections: Carry out thorough visual inspections of each vehicle upon arrival, noting any cosmetic damage, faults, or other issues.
* Damage Documentation: Accurately record any damage or defects found during the inspection process, using company-approved systems and procedures.
* Vendor Interaction: Communicate effectively with transporter drivers and trade plate drivers to ensure vehicles are delivered in good condition and any issues are resolved.
* Vehicle Handling: Safely and efficiently move vehicles to designated locations in the yard, ensuring proper care is taken to prevent damage.
* Inventory Management: Assist with organising and maintaining the yard, ensuring vehicles are stored in a neat and orderly fashion.
* Health and Safety Compliance: Follow all company health and safety protocols, ensuring the safe handling of vehicles and equipment.
Requirements:
* Experience: Previous experience in a similar role (e.g., yard person, vehicle handler, or warehouse operative) is preferred but not essential.
* Knowledge of Vehicles: Basic knowledge of vehicles and their components, with the ability to identify cosmetic issues and defects.
* Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail to accurately inspect and document vehicle conditions.
* Communication Skills: Good verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with vendors and team members.
* Driver's Licence: A valid driver's licence is essential for safely moving vehicles around the yard.
* Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
