We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic clinical /counselling psychologist to a 0.7 wte band 8a post In Chronic Pain and General Medicine within NHS Forth Valley Clinical Health Psychology. Clinical Health Psychology has well established links with and delivers specialist psychological services through embedded psychologists to several acute medical teams (cancer, chronic pain, diabetes, ICU, long covid, maternity, neonatal & perinatal). Clinical Health Psychology also provides specialist psychological input to other patients who live with complex physical health conditions through our General Medicine service. The post gives the opportunity to develop skills and experience in providing psychological interventions with patients who have chronic health conditions. Clinical sessions will be across the General Medicine service and the Pain service. This is a varied role delivering individual therapy to patients with complex needs, joint working with other disciplines and co-facilitating group interventions. There is the opportunity for the post holder to gain experience in representing psychology within multidisciplinary team meetings, in the delivery of consultancy and supervision to non-psychology colleagues as well as in the provision of teaching and training. The post holder will contribute to Clinical Health Psychology service development projects and will have the opportunity to supervise junior staff. Ability and willingness to travel throughout the area of service delivery is essential for this post. The duties of this post require the successful candidate to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. As NHS Forth Valley is a smaller health board, there is ample opportunity for close liaison with other services, to benefit from a range of staff wellbeing initiatives, to attend regular CPD events and modality specific reflective practice groups. As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
