Phoenix Community Primary School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, child-centred Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENDCo) to join our Senior Leadership Team on a part-time basis (0.8 FTE). This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional who is passionate about inclusive education and committed to ensuring every child can thrive, achieve and feel valued within our school community.
At Phoenix, inclusion, wellbeing and high expectations are at the heart of everything we do. The SENDCo plays a key strategic and operational role in championing the needs of pupils with SEND, ensuring barriers to learning are identified and addressed so all pupils reach their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with staff, parents, external professionals to develop effective support strategies and maintain a strong culture of inclusive practice across the school.
This role offers the opportunity to influence whole-school practice and contribute to the leadership and development of teaching, learning and pupil support. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the SENDCo will help shape policy, drive improvement and support colleagues in delivering high-quality provision for all learners.
Working Pattern: Monday–Wednesday (FT) Thursday–Friday (am only)
Applicants must have:
1. Qualified Teacher Status
2. National Award for SEN Coordination
3. Evidence of ongoing professional development and a strong commitment to continuing professional development in order to further develop the role
4. Experience of successful leadership and management within a school setting
5. A proven track record of securing strong pupil progress for groups of learners, including those with additional needs
6. The ability to contribute to the professional leadership of staff teams, working collaboratively to secure high-quality teaching, effective deployment of resources and improved outcomes for all pupils
7. Experience in using data and data analysis to inform planning, track progress and raise standards
8. Clear knowledge and experience of safeguarding responsibilities and procedures relating to the protection and wellbeing of children
