We currently have an exciting opportunity for a full time Band 4 Dental Nurse in Community Dental Services based at St Leonards Hospital in Inner NorthEast London (INEL). This role delivers high‑quality care to patients across Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham through services including Sedation, Special Care Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry, Domiciliary care and the Bariatric and Dental Mobile Service for Homeless and medium‑secure units.
Responsibilities
* Deliver high quality customer service to patients and visitors, providing chairside assistance and visiting patients in community, domiciliary, homeless centres and the medium‑secure unit in the mobile dental unit.
* Organise dental kits and materials for domiciliary dental visits and support the day‑to‑day running of clinics, implementing service initiatives to ensure compliance with regulatory standards including CQC, Dental Practice Inspections, Standard Operating Procedures, Health & Safety Risk Assessment.
* Ensure standardised practices across all sites.
* Demonstrate strong leadership, working independently, proactively and under pressure.
Eligibility
At this stage the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts and the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB). A full UK driving licence required; candidates who are unable to drive because of a disability should contact the Recruitment Team.
Qualifications
* (QCF) Level 3 in Oral Health / Dental Nursing. This could be an NVQ Level 3 apprenticeship, BTEC or equivalent international qualification in healthcare and maintenance of GDC registration.
* Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy / GCSE grade A‑C / 4‑9 or equivalent in English and Maths).
* Experience of radiology and a qualification in RA/IV would be advantageous.
Knowledge & Skills
* Sound communication skills in verbal and written form.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues and other teams across the Trust.
* Remain professional, work well under pressure and organise own work to prioritise care delivery in line with trust policies and procedures.
* Hand and eye coordination to use clinical skills to assemble equipment, mix dental materials and hold instruments in position for the practitioner.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure and Barring Service check to assess any previous criminal convictions.
Salary
£27,485 to £30,162 a year, pro rata.
