Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic physiotherapist to join our Community Stroke and Neuro Team in Islington. The team works with adults of all ages and focuses on client‑centred goals in a time‑oriented way. Experience in assessing and working with older people and individuals with physical disabilities such as stroke and other neurological conditions is essential.
Main Duties
* Deliver patient care based on principles of best practice, including direct patient contact and supervision.
* Carrying out specialist, comprehensive assessments of patients with complex presentations, formulating individualised management and treatment plans.
* Providing specialised physiotherapy interventions at home or in a community setting, collaborating with colleagues in the community and secondary care to promote continuity of care.
* Identifying own learning needs related to clinical knowledge and skills in the management of patients following stroke and with long‑term neurological conditions.
* Supporting the delivery of multidisciplinary education and training.
* Accessing further education programmes to develop knowledge and skills, and sharing learning with the wider team.
* Monitoring the effectiveness of the community therapy service through data collection for ongoing audit.
* Contributing to the evaluation of research findings and disseminating them appropriately, including presentations at study days or conferences.
* Adhering to Whittington Health policy and procedures at all times.
* Maintaining an annual personal development plan.

Responsibilities
* Provide high quality physiotherapy assessment and treatment programmes for adults presenting with stroke in Haringey.
* Use specialist physiotherapy knowledge and skills to manage own complex caseload as an autonomous practitioner.
* Serve as a source of expertise on stroke, neurological conditions and rehabilitation, advising patients, carers, peers and other professionals.
* Support the use of evidence‑based practice within the service, incorporating national guidelines such as the stroke strategy.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Essential: Degree or Diploma in Physiotherapy; Registration with the Health Professions Council.
* Desirable: Completion of courses related to Neurological Physiotherapy (e.g., Basic Bobath course); Membership of the CSP and relevant Clinical Interest groups (e.g., ACPIN).
Skills and Abilities
* Essential IT skills, including Word and PowerPoint.

Experience
* Essential: Experience of running groups; organising, writing and delivering in‑service training programmes; involvement in clinical governance or service improvement initiatives; previous experience working within the NHS; previous experience working independently in a community setting; experience of multidisciplinary team working.
* Desirable: Experience of taking physiotherapy students on clinical practice placements; experience of working with the voluntary sector; experience of supervising junior and non-qualified staff, including participation in personal development reviews.
Knowledge
* Essential: Knowledge of current NHS priorities and policy; understanding of clinical governance activity; knowledge of physiotherapy professional issues; knowledge of the stroke strategy and the NSF for long‑term conditions and related frameworks; knowledge of other medical conditions such as respiratory, orthopaedics and conditions of old age.
* Desirable: Evidence of attendance of post‑graduate training related to the post; knowledge of the audit cycle and its uses.
