Maintenance Engineer - Carlisle
Salary: up to £45,706.74 per annum DOE
Shift Rotation: Monday to Friday - 6am-2pm, 2pm-10pm, and 10pm-6am
Overtime: Paid at 1.5 times
This role involves working with an experienced team of technicians to diagnose and repair equipment, aiming to minimize plant downtime.
Our plant supports the move towards a circular economy by innovating maintenance practices to anticipate and prevent machine failures. Supporting initiatives and proactively developing equipment, practices, and systems are essential parts of this role.
Safety is our top priority. Conducting maintenance safely and securely, maintaining H&S standards, and completing all documentation are integral to this position.
Your key responsibilities:
1. Carrying out plant upgrades and modifications to meet standards.
2. Reporting all work via the computerized maintenance management system.
3. Developing and implementing a preventative maintenance and inspection program to minimize downtime, record recurrent faults, and engineer solutions.
4. Being available for planned shutdowns (with reasonable notice).
5. Liaising with external contractors for repairs and maintenance, including some weekend work.
6. Ensuring compliance with all company policies, processes, and procedures.
Essential criteria:
* Experienced Mechanical/Multi-Skilled Engineer in a process or production environment.
* Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing environments.
* An HNC/HND/C+G (or industry equivalent) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering is preferable but not essential; practical experience is crucial. Some electrical knowledge is advantageous.
* Proven experience working with KPIs and delivering continuous improvement.
* Knowledge of conveyors, chain drives, hydraulics, compactors, shredders, overhead cranes, and pneumatics is desirable.
* Experience in a time-critical process environment is essential. Good organizational and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
