Abbey Vet Clinic in Arbroath is looking for an experienced small animal veterinary surgeon to join our friendly and supportive team on a permanent basis. This role is ideal for a clinician ready to take on more responsibility, mentor recent graduates, and continue developing their own skills in a well-established practice.
Salary up to £65,000 DOE, Welcome Bonus up to £5,000 plus Relocation Allowance up to £5,000. The position offers clinical freedom, a varied caseload, and opportunities to specialise, including pursuing certificates, offering specialist services, or advancing surgical expertise.
We also work closely with Cats Protection, running a dedicated cat clinic. Our caseload includes a mix of medical and surgical cases such as routine neuterings, pyometras, lump removals, GI foreign bodies, and dentistry. If you have a particular area of interest, we’d love to support you in developing it further.
We are a small animal practice with a small number of exotics and work closely with our sister practice, Robson Vets in Laurencekirk, who are also recruiting. We work 40 hours over a 4/5 day week with Saturday mornings shared on an equal rota; we are open to flexible working or part-time hours for the right candidate. No OOH requirement.
What you’ll be stepping into
We have two well-established branches located in Arbroath and Forfar. These vibrant communities offer a coastal and countryside environment for work and leisure. Both branches are fully equipped with the latest veterinary tools, including iM3 dental machines, digital radiology, and IDEXX biochemistry and haematology equipment. A brand-new dental x-ray machine has recently been installed in our Arbroath branch to enhance dentistry services.
Arbroath offers a vibrant coastal lifestyle with beaches, landmarks, and a lively town atmosphere. It provides access to Angus and Dundee amenities and cultural attractions.

Our current team consists of 4 experienced vets and 5 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs) who lead their own clinics. RVNs provide a range of services and support nurse-led initiatives in patient care.
